A scalable enablement model for global events, commonly referred to as AWS Summits, is a complicated solve. By leveraging and extrapolating on existing systems we were able to bring the event expression into the AWS brand language. With a unique visual toolkit, that aligns to the greater brand while remaining flexible and integrating the narrative of global summits. That is, that we meet the customers where they are. Our goal and purpose is to bring people together, to share their knowledge, passion, and form a global AWS community.

As Creative Director for AWS Summits, the concept and visual language were developed to define the event experience. A pixel-based design represents individual attendees as square pixels, coalescing into a vibrant AWS brand gradient that highlights the community’s collective impact.

Ensuring user-friendly and cohesive design systems was essential, with a guide outlining principles and resources for consistent event experiences across various formats and sizes. Responsibilities encompassed oversight of all event marketing and on-site assets—signage, wayfinding, copy, and spatial design—facilitating collaboration with internal teams and external partners to align with brand and business goals.

A focus on streamlining the design process was implemented through templates and automation tools, empowering teams to effectively address challenges while enhancing the overall impact of global events.
